Jorge Lopez
Bio: Jorge Lopez started his career in 1963, during that time wrestling had territories. He started off a Mexican rebel (heel). After being with the company he was in for a matter of 5 months, he won the Heavyweight title and held it for more than a year. He stayed a heel until 1969, when he became a face for the first time. During that time, he made some cameos in a few movies as well. In that year his first kid was born. He held championship belts throughout the 70’s and the mid 80’s.
In the late 1980’s going into the early 1990’s, Jorge had an intense and a bitter rivalry with Duke Russell. However during the 1990’s his wrestling career was on the decline. But he wanted to stay in the sport that he loved and didn’t want to give it up or retire. However in 1998, he had to go into semi-retirement. His son, Eddie Lopez gave him a major heart attack when he announced that his girlfriend was pregnant. Jorge didn’t expect that at all. He would, after the heart attack, wrestle once every year until 2002. 2002- To now, He worked in the front office for 3 different companies before going to PWS. There he worked as a manager. He then worked as head of talent relations, responsible of bringing in new talent for PWS. He then got promoted to General Manager of PWSi where he worked side by side with Star Stormz!
In 2013 he fully retired from the wrestling world, but that doesn’t mean he won’t pop in every now and again to give his wisdom. The reason he retired is because of health problems he recently had. In WXW he’s going to be working as an agent for his daughter, Brittany, His Son, Eddie and family friend Breeze. Since the last heart attack, in early 2013, he doesn’t like to be touched, unless it’s a hug.
Also in 2013, he was inducted into the Mexican Wrestling Hall of Fame, alongside his son Eddie Lopez.
Someone asked him a question if he has one more match left in him, in response, Jorge said “Yes, only if it’s against Eddie. I want to leave with the best match possible and Eddie’s the one to make it happen.”
Overall in his 50+ year career, he’s held over 120 titles as well as wrestler of the year award in 1975, 1979 and 1980.
